The Poop Deck Project
Hello, chaps! The daily drawing project seems to have consumed my blog somewhat lately, but I'm getting on top of it again and queuing some posts up as a break from it! In hindsight a separate blog/tumblr account probably would have been a good idea...
The most important and pressing thing to share, which you may already have heard if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, is that earlier this month I created a character illustration for a new project run by the rather wonderful Ammo Magazine. (If you haven't heard of the magazine already, check it out - it's a lovely postcard sized magazine on tactile paper, stuffed full of beautiful illustrations by loads of great international artists). The project is 'The Poop Deck Project' - a nautical themed deck of cards featuring 54 illustrators from around the world, with an exhibition at the Coningsby Gallery in London, running from Monday 29th April to Saturday 4th May (next week!).
There'll be lots to see as the space is also hosting Inkygoodness' Beermat Characters, and the chance to buy some lovely artwork* if you fancy it. If you think you'd like to pop along, there's a Facebook Event page with all the details.
*hint... my framed character print ;)
I'll be able to share the finished illustration with you after the exhibition, hopefully with some process images if you're interested in seeing a bit of that, but in the mean time here's a [genuinely fascinating!] video about the printing/production process of the deck (with a little glimpse of my card near the beginning...). I don't envy the printers having to use those huge guillotines on such a big project - an immense responsibility!
